Note that distances are not given for the map. Precise measurements are difficult, vague, and unimportant for most cartographers of the area, let alone locals; the important question is how long it takes to travel from one point to another. Due to the extremely rugged terrain, even a man on horseback can expect to make little better time than a man afoot. Wagon travel is impossible off the roads. Numerous small streams and creeks wash down from the mountains, and some can swell into dangerous floods during the rainy season. Even so, none qualify as rivers large enough to merit depiction on the overland map.
